Dominika began playing tennis at age eight and grew up in Bratislava, Slovakia. She turned professional in 2005, after having played only one ITF event in Prague at the end of 2004. She secured her first career ITF titles at Amarante in 2005 and in Bratislava in 2006. Dominika made her Grand Slam debut at the 2007 French Open where she reached the third round, dispatching the No.32 seed in the process.
In April 2008 she reached her first WTA Tour final where she lost to the then reigning Australian Open champion, Maria Sharapova. Her career highlight to date undoubtedly came at the 2009 French Open where she progressed all the way until the Semi Finals, where she eventually lost to Dinara Safina.
Dominika currently uses the Aerogel 4D Super-Lite racket and her strengths are her combative and tenacious nature.
